Hi, friends! Summer is slipping away before it's begun. Martin is watching a last-day-of-camp-movie, while I sit and think about the fall and winter designs in my head. A whole set of them are inspired by the speculative ficiton romance novel I'm writing. As you must know by now, it takes place in tenth century Iceland on a farm. I just published this--the first related pattern.
Called From the Fields, it was inspired by my research into cutting acres of grass with a scythe.
The alternating lace columns were created after reading about raking windrows.
And here's a quarter acre scythe mowing challenge.
It's a lot slower than a tractor. But it turns out, quite a bit faster than knitting a shawl! It also obviously provides more of a full-body workout.
Ah well, I like making shawls.
Sweet.
