This afternoon I asked for donors to give $13.50 a day for the next 12 days to my Run for Congo Women.
Today three people donated! One I am waiting to hear from about using her name.
The other two:
First Heather of rycrafty.com. She just recently got her own domain name. Did I mention rycrafty.com? Heather has a BFA in Theater and is 5'3". Which is Soooo Weird because I have a BA in Theater, and I'm 5'3", um, pretty much. It's not that usual to have one of those, degrees in theater, nor to be so short. OK, some things we don't have in common: she is a neat freak. And was born in the, ahem, 1980s. I am so old. Hi Heather, and thank you.
And Chrissy of Gardiner Yarn Works and of Knittin' Mom and of being the person who came and jogged with me when I was out of my mind with work on our book and didn't mind that I was a sucky jogger and walked all the time. (She kept saying very nicely that it was okay we were going so slow, and pointing out gently that we hadn't really gone as far as my Nike+ thing said and it must need calibrating.) Though Chrissy and I are from Portland and have toddlers, she's traveled all over the world, sells knitting patterns to Interweave Knits, and is tall to boot. Hi Chrissy, and thank you.
If you'd like to be the next Donor of the Day, go to the end of this post to donate any amount! And give me your webpage info, or if you're inclined to be anonymous any webpage you want me to link to for fun.
See you tomorrow.
Oh, that's my two tone shrug from Fitted Knits up there. I've added the glazed carrot to the pearl.

Hi! I just wanted to tell you that I paypal'd you a donation for your run and I wanted wish you the best of luck. I wish I could send more, but I've been paying for a Kenyan friend's sister to go to school for the past 18 months (he lost his job, very sad). Anyways, it's a great thing your doing. Having been to Africa twice I am convinced that the future of that continent lies largely in the hands of its women (thus my wiring of school funds to Kenya, despite being questioned by Homeland Security!!!!) and your running in support of Congolese women, who have faced such incredible hardship in their lives, is so admirable. Good for you! And best of luck too! :) Allison
