This fabric shouted out to me, at the cutting table at Fabric Depot. That always happens. I get all my stuff together, figure out the exact maximum amount of fabric and trims I can buy, and then I walk up there and they have placed something this gorgeous right near the cutting table. They get me every time.
This has nothing to do with anything, but it's a pretty picture for the top of the post in which I close the meathead knitalong.
I was not ever going to close it, but it's gotten to be too much for me to add names and emails every day. If my family has any hope of getting roasted apple sauce, brussel sprouts with homemade balsamic mustard, cranberry pear chutney, granny smith & kale gratin, 1792 wedding cake (opens a pdf), and my annual chocolate cranberry cheesecake, I cannot sign anyone else up to test knit the hat. So as a little pre-Thanksgiving present to myself and my hungry people, I'm cutting off the signups.
If you are already in the knitalong and have received the pattern, please post your pictures to the flickr group by the end of November. Thanks!
And now, if it's Thanksgiving in your world, what are you making?

Thank you for sharing your cake recipe and info. It is so enticing!
I don't see my name on the list, although you did send me the pattern. I am guessing you are taking time out from typing to stir the dinner. Enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving.

I've been asked to bring one of the simplest EVER dishes: Waldorf salad. For this, I am grateful.
THAT FABRIC. I would have found myself putting other things in my basket back on the shelf for those.

Hi Jan-knit,
Yes you're on the list, and you're right I took a break from entering names. I have more than a hundred to still enter here, even though I've sent the patterns out to nearly everyone (all but 5 people). So anyone out there who has the pattern, go ahead and knit and post pics!

I have it easy this year for Thanksgiving.. I only have to make peanut butter cream pie (in these cute little individual pans)
I just got my yarn today for the meathead and I'm so excited about starting it! (LPB - kiwi and sable)

I'm so glad I got into the KAL just in time! I made my Meathead this evening and will post photos tomorrow. I was really fun to knit and I love the way it turned out!
And it IS Thanksgiving in my part of the world, but at our potluck-style party I get off easy and only bring the salad. :)

Yea! I received the pattern just in time, whew!
this year I am doing christmas in my family, so for thanksgiving I will only have to make a side dish to take to my SIL's house. My oldest child (who is the first grandchild) will be home from the Navy for the first time this christmas, so it was decided that I would do the christmas while he's home and the SIL would do thanksgiving.

Yum sounds like a delcious dinner at your house. We're having a fresh Wild Turkey brined turkey with oyster cornbread stuffing, sweet potato rolls, Brussels sprouts in browned butter with hazelnuts, a small dish of shrimp alfredo for the youngest who dislikes turkey, whipped sweet potatoes with bananas and honey, homemade spiced cranberry sauce, pecan pie, and pumpkin pie.
I've got another Meathead done and the embellishment is half done. Should be up on flikr soon.

You are so smart to close the sign-ups. It's crazy how much effort Thanksgiving can take. With my book sample deadline at Dec. 1 and a meathead to make, I'm keeping our feast simple - brined turkey ala Alton Brown, potato-garlic puree, basic stuffing, cranberry orange relish and pumpkin pie. All standards and all great, but not too complex or time consuming. The biggest pain will be the grocery shopping!

I can't wait for brussels sprouts and cauliflower au gratin with copious amounts of horseradish, leek and mushroom stuffing, and lots of wine!

I do what grandma did. Just plain old roasted/stuffed turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, veggies, cakes and pies. OK, now I'm hungry.

We voted against turkey and are doing cornish game hens! Sweet corn pudding, brussel sprouts with balsamic glaze, sweet potato rolls, cranberry apple compote, etc., etc.

I am hosting my first Thanksgiving dinner, 14 people! wow! I am also making the brined turkey ala Alton Brown, cranberry sauce, fessenjoon sauce (it's walnuts and pomegrante paste, sooo good!), mashed potatoes, rice, green beans, mushrooms, pumpkin roll, lemon bundt cake, and the stuffing and soup my MIL is bringing. i already started making the sauces yesterday. But, tonight it's all about the meathead hat.

Thank you for the pattern. I made my first hat over the weekend during the Ohio St/Michigan match. It is a great pattern. I already have three more (maybe four) planned. Will post pictures soon!

I have to seam up the brown one I started (and finished, except for the seam!) tonight and find the right left ear tag. :) I also started one in a Rose Red color that I hope goes with your pinks. I have yarn for four or five more... I always get more than I need.
Thanksgiving it is, here in the Metro DC area. My family is on the move for a grand gathering at chez radarkaty. There shall be 22-25 in attendance (the 30-somethings in the crowd keep yaying and naying). Roast Turkey, Glazed and Baked Ham, mashed potatoes, yam/orange/pecan casserole, green bean casserole, steamed broccoli, cold veggie tray, three types of gravy, two types of stuffing, many pies and cookies and such - wine, beer, coffee, tea and more soda than any one garage should hold! With this crowd, we'll be lucky for a little leftovers!

I really love that fabric, who makes it? I would love to try and have some sent here (UK) I know you're incredibly busy, but I have blog friends in the US who may be able to get hold of some for me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
